Opening its doors in 2000, Camino Nuevo Charter Academy changed the landscape of a struggling neighborhood. Our first school campus, Burlington, was an abandoned mini mall before it was transformed into a dynamic learning environment for K-8 students.
Today the Burlington campus serves more than 500 students with a curriculum tied to state standards but which also incorporates an emphasis on the arts, the environment, and parent and community outreach. We operate on an extended calendar year and maintain an average class size of 20 in grades K-3 and 28 in grades 4-8.
The Burlington campus is also home to the Developmental Bilingual Program and Curriculum, offered from kindergarten through 5th grade. This program builds on students’ Spanish language skills and is a vehicle for creating bilingual, bicultural students who value their linguistic and cultural heritage while preparing them for life in a linguistically diverse world.
