At Camino Nuevo, we work to build a college-going culture from Day One. From preschool through high school, our students visit colleges and universities, experiences that open their eyes to the universe of possibilities and often influence what colleges they apply to as seniors. This spring, our second graders took their first trip to UCLA and our older students visited colleges in northern California and on the East Coast. Throughout this journey, our students are challenged academically and build the habits and skills to succeed in college.
I am extremely proud to announce that our work to prepare students for college continues to pay off. Please join me in congratulating this year's senior class -- 175 amazing scholars who are graduating in June and starting the next chapter of their life. Nearly 100% of them are going to college in the fall. The majority were accepted to four-year colleges, including 19 California State University campuses, 9 University of California schools, and over 60 private colleges and universities across the country!
At Dalzell Lance High School, which won a 2017 Gold Ribbon Award, 82% of seniors gained admission to four-year colleges -- an increase over the last two years. Bravo! Those students are headed to some of the nation's top schools, including Tufts, Smith, Connecticut, Syracuse, UC Berkeley, and USC. Miramar High School is graduating its second class and is sending more students to college than last year. Miramar also celebrated its first three acceptances to UCLA.
Thank you for supporting our mission to continue to put more students on the path to college.
