Welcome to the Dalzell Lance Campus

Welcome to Camino Nuevo High School - Dalzell Lance Campus - Home of the Tigers!

Welcome to the 2023-2024 School Year! I hope you had a restful and rejuvenating break! As your Principal, I am excited to welcome you back to another exciting school year. Our walkways have been quiet without the boundless laughter and energy of our students, and it's wonderful to see our school come alive again!

At Camino Nuevo High School, this year, we are focusing on bridging towards belonging! We believe that through fostering meaningful connections among students, teachers, staff, and the entire school community we can accomplish anything we set our minds to as a team. This year promises to be filled with new opportunities for learning, growth, and achievement. We are ready! Our dedicated teachers and staff have been hard at work all summer preparing engaging lessons and creating a safe and inclusive environment for all.

Just a friendly reminder… Families are always welcome at Dalzell Lance High School. If your child ever says do not come to school, I would do just the opposite. I encourage you to get involved and stay involved with opportunities like with our Site Based Council, English Language Advisory Committee, Parent Book Club, weekly workshops, or Coffees with the Leadership Team. Make sure you sign up for ParentSquare, if you haven’t already, to receive important information from school. If you need any help with this, just contact Citlalli Castillo - Student and Family Services Coordinator at [email protected].

Please feel free to contact me at any time throughout the year if you ever have a concern or would just like to have a conversation. I can be reached at [email protected] or on ParentSqaure.

Thanks,

Larry Boone
Principal

In 2018, he was named principal of Dalzell Lance High School. Previously, he oversaw the restructuring and revitalization of a high school in San Diego that struggled with declining enrollment and low student achievement. Mr. Boone, who grew up in South Central Los Angeles, is a firm believer that every neighborhood should have great schools. When he was a teen, his mother insisted that he and his sister ride the bus for more than an hour-and-a-half every day to attend safe, high-quality schools in the San Fernando Valley. Mr. Boone completed undergraduate studies at UCLA and became a teacher. He taught middle and high school English, humanities, health, and physical education.
