Director of Language and Literacy

As the Director of Language and Literacy, Rachel provides the guidance, support, and oversight necessary to ensure that Camino Nuevo students receive high quality instruction. Specifically, her work is focused on the schools’ literacy, ELD, and bilingual education programs. Rachel's passion for urban education and its potential to positively impact communities began when she was a Teach for America corps member and 5th grade bilingual teacher at Camino Nuevo’s Burlington Campus. Since then, she has served in both site and central office leadership roles at Camino Nuevo, including working as the Cisneros Campus’s founding Literacy and Bilingual Education Coordinator starting when the school first opened in 2011.
 
Rachel completed her B.A. at the University of California, Berkeley and earned an M.A. in Elementary Education from Loyola Marymount University.
