January 8, 2025 - School Closure Due to Windstorm & Fires

Dear Camino Nuevo Familia,

Late this morning, LAUSD published a list of schools that must close immediately. While Camino Nuevo classrooms are safe and students are on campus learning, we will act in accordance with LAUSD and close our schools today, January 8th, 2025.

We kindly ask that all parents pick up your student at your earliest convenience. Rest assured that staff will remain on campus to support your student until you are able to pick them up. There will be no after school programming today.

The safety of all of our students, families, and staff is our top priority. During this time, here are a few things we can all do to prepare ourselves:

  • Make sure you have an emergency kit ready with supplies for all family members. Visit Ready.gov for information on how to prepare your kit.
  • Make a plan on how to stay in touch and where you’ll go if you need to evacuate.
  • Prepare for possible power outages by charging all your devices, including portable power banks, flashlights, and keep extra batteries on hand.

Requests for City Services

    • Report a Power Outage
    • To Report Downed Trees, Landslides, Mudslides, Potholes, or Road Erosion
      • Use the MyLA311 app, visit myla311.lacity.org or dial 311
    • Get Emergency Alerts
      • Register for alerts at NotifyLA.org and follow @ReadyLA on social media
  • CalFire Updates - Real Time Evacuations and Incident Alerts

We will continue to monitor this changing situation. Any updates regarding additional school closures will come directly from Camino Nuevo. Thank you for your partnership and please stay safe.

Sincerely,

Adriana Abich
