Our Mission

Our mission is to empower Camino Nuevo alumni by providing tailored, one-on-one guidance to navigate their educational journeys and excel in the competitive job market. We are dedicated to fostering peer mentorship and facilitating meaningful connections within the Camino alumni community. Through personalized support services, we aim to equip our alumni with the tools, resources, and networks necessary for lifelong success and fulfillment.

Support Our Schools

Camino Nuevo students and recent graduates benefit when alumni like you step up to support our schools. There are many ways that you can get involved and make a difference. Opportunities include:
  1. Mentoring CNCA graduates through their first year of college and beyond 
  2. Participating in CNCA special events and alumni activities
  3. Acting as ambassadors and advocates on behalf of CNCA; and

Hi! I'm Yazmin, the Alumni College & Career Coordinator. I was born and raised in South Central Los Angeles and am proud to be a first-generation college graduate. I began my higher education journey at East Los Angeles College (ELAC) before transferring to the University of California, Riverside (UCR), where I earned my bachelor's degree in Education.

 

For the past six years, I've worked in education, supporting students as they pursue their academic, personal, and career goals. As a first-generation college student, I understand the challenges of navigating higher education and the importance of having a strong support system.

 

I believe every student deserves someone in their corner. As the Alumni College & Career Coordinator, I'm dedicated to supporting our alumni as they transition from high school to college, career, and beyond. Whether it's navigating financial aid, applying for scholarships, exploring career opportunities, or simply having someone to turn to, I'm here to help students grow, overcome challenges, and achieve their goals.

My name is Leslie Fuentes and I am one of your Alumni College and Career Coordinators! I am a queer, non-binary, first-generation college graduate and educator from East Los Angeles, CA, raised by Central American immigrants from El Salvador y Guatemala. I attended Wellesley College just outside of Boston, Massachusetts where I obtained a Bachelors of Arts in Education Studies and Anthropology. I am passionate about college access, transformative justice, and ensuring first-generation students are supported and empowered through their post-secondary goals.
 
I've worked in education for five years under different roles, most recently as a college advisor for first-generation juniors and seniors in South Central LA for the past three years. Some of you might remember me from the DAL College Center in the Fall of 2023 where I supported as a College Counseling Assistant. I have a lot of experience supporting students through the college and transfer application process, financial aid, and career advising, and I am so excited to be back at Camino Nuevo to continue this work! We are here for you every step of the way.
